召開“吉隆坡廣東義山搬遷課題大型對話及交流會”

16/07/2000，由本會發動的“吉隆坡廣東義山搬遷課題大型對話及交流會”於廣肇大廈6樓禮堂進行。當天出席的包括雪隆地區43個鄉團、宗親會、義山組織和政黨代表，人數多達數百人，會上全部出席代表皆獲3至5分鐘發言時間，並一致表明堅決反對吉隆坡廣東義山搬遷。
這項對話及交流會由雪隆廣肇會館會長李振光主持，主要目的旨在讓雪隆各社團代表對義山搬遷課題上發表立場，同時希望匯集強大的華社力量，向政府傳達華裔的心聲。

3) A large scale forum was organized to discuss the relocation of the Kuala Lumpur Kwong Tong Cemetery.

On 16th July 2000, the Selangor & Federal Territory Kwong Siew association initiated and organized a large forum to discuss the implication on the relocation of the Kuala Lumpur Kwong Tong cemetery. It was held on the 6th floor of the association at 147-149 Jalan Tun H.S.Lee Kuala Lumpur.

Delegates from 43 clan associations and other clan groups from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were present. Also present were representatives from other Chinese cemetery committees as well as representatives from different political parties. At the forum each speaker was given 3-5 minutes to express his view. Altogether a few hundred people were present at the forum. There was unanimous agreement that the Kuala Lumpur Kwong Tong Cemetery should not be forced to relocate anywhere, whatever the reasons.

The forum was chaired by the President of the Selangor & Federal Territory Kwong Siew association Mr. Lee Chun Kong. The purpose of the forum was to allow the representatives of clan associations and others to express their views on the matter. It was also a show of community unity and support for the opposition to the cemetery relocation. It was hoped the resolutions passed at the forum would help the government recognize and understand the feeling of the Chinese.
